Foraging Walk & Tasting: Edible, Medicinal & Poisonous Fungi, Fruits, Plants and Herbs

Early September plays host to a bountiful variety of edible mushrooms including chicken of the woods, maitake/hen of the woods, oysters, beefsteaks, Lion’s Mane and more! We will review how to properly identify mushrooms and wild edibles, discuss sustainable harvesting and local laws and collect specimens to study. Learn 15-20 mushroom species that are available now, as well as a variety of non-edible/poisonous fungi, plants and herbs and perhaps even take some home with you to enjoy!
The walk will be followed by a tasting featuring some of my most recent food and drink concoctions – wild sodas, shrub drinks, mushroom jerky, pickled mushrooms, and more! While we sip and sample, we will review how you can make the same delicious recipes at home.
