Foraging Class: Edible & Medicinal Plants, Flowers & Wild Pickle Tasting
When: May 4, 2024 10am – 12pm
Where: Burchard Park, Weston MA
Interested in learning how to identify medicinal plants, trees and other delicious local wild edibles? Join me on a relaxing walk in the woods! This class is perfect for the nature lover, forager, herbalist, foodie or outdoor enthusiast. We will review various spring edibles, discuss sustainable harvesting and local laws, review edible invasive species and collect specimens to study. Learn 20-30 edible/herbal/medicinal species that are available now and take some home with you to enjoy!
While we forage we will gather ingredients for quick pickling. The walk will be followed by a wild pickle tasting – from spring onions, to delicious magnolia flowers – and discussion of how to make your own at home!
Check out my Seasonality Guide to see a list of common wild foods found in May.
*Please note: If rain/weather is an issue on the event date, a rain date will be emailed out to registrants.
