Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about a foraging event? Wondering what to bring with you on one of our mushroom hunts? Check out some of the most frequently asked questions.

What should I wear to forage?
For all of our forages, we recommend that you wear long pants and dress in layers. If you are going on a coastal forage, we recommend wearing knee-high water boots. For forest and field forages, we recommend wearing hiking boots.
What should I bring with me to forage?
We recommend bringing a water bottle, pocket-knife, notebook (for identification information) and small digging tool (trowels or hand shovels are perfect!). For coastal forages, we ask participants to bring their own buckets to gather edibles. For plant and flower forages, we suggest bringing multiple plastic bags, a basket or reusable grocery bags to gather. For mushroom forages, we recommend bringing multiple brown paper bags or a basket to gather.
Don’t worry if you don’t have everything! We bring extra tools on all of our forages.
Can I bring my children on the forage?
For public foraging events including our monthly wild food picnics, kids ages 12+ are more than welcome to join us! For private forages, children of all ages are welcomed! We do ask you to leave the kids at home for any of our happy hour forages with tastings.
Can I bring my dog on the forage?
We are happy to forage with one to two social and well-behaved dogs on our public forages, with permission. Dogs are welcome on a first come, first serve basis, so please email us and let us know if you want to bring your pup with you. For private forages, we welcome all four-legged friends!
What is your cancellation policy?
All ticket event sales and bookings are final. We do not offer refunds or rescheduling options for privately booked forages. Refunds are available only if we cancel an event.
I bought a ticket to a foraging event, but now I can’t attend. What should I do?
We understand that from time to time, unforeseen circumstances may arise. Email us at least 7 days prior to the foraging date and let us know that you can’t attend the event. We will happily offer to have you join us within 30 days of your original foraging event date at another upcoming public foraging event of equal or lesser value.
What if there is bad weather on the day of the forage?
Some of the best foraging is done in the rain and snow! Foraging events will still be held if it is raining or snowing. The only time we will postpone an event is if the weather is a danger to participants (high winds, downpours or blizzards). If your event is postponed due to weather, a make-up date will be offered to all participants.
What if we don’t find anything on our forage?
We 100% guarantee that you will encounter a multitude of wild foods during all of our forages. Don’t believe us? Join us on an excursion!
