When: November 7, 2024 10am – 12:30pm
Where: Burchard Park Weston, MA
Cost: $65/person
Interested in learning how to identify medicinal and edible plants, trees and other delicious local wild foods, while making great new friends? Join me on a relaxing walk in the woods! This class is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast, nature lover or home cook, beginner forager, herbalist, or someone just looking to enjoy a day out in the woods with fun people.
We will identify various wild edibles, discuss sustainable harvesting techniques and local laws, review invasive edible species and collect specimens to study/taste. Learn 10-15 edible species that are available now.
As we walk, we will review how you can make your own wild sodas with unique flavors from the forest. We will also gather ingredients during the forage so that you can make your own at soda home.
The walk will be followed by the very last wild food tasting of the year, featuring wild soda and shrub drinks, along with foraged jellies/jams, mushroom jerky, fruit leathers, fermented fare and more, all gathered within 20 miles of Weston. Come on out and enjoy the last of fall’s incredible bounty!
