April Foraging Walks: Upcoming Group Events

April is fast-approaching and I could not be more excited! The environment is slowly transitioning from a bleak gray-ish brown to a more vibrant spring green, with hopeful flashes of yellows and pinks.
Forsythias are getting ready to bloom around Boston, in addition to the season’s first magnolia trees. Violets and dandelions will follow on the ground as lilacs burst happily through the rains.
Wild garlic, spring onions, bitter and wintercress’, chickweeds and docks will greet April’s new arrivals – thistles, nettles, ramps, ferns, daylily, knotweed and oh so many edible flowers.
It’s a truly magical time to explore. I’m happy to share that both my public foraging events and my private bookings are really ramping up, foraging pun intended!
In April, I’ll be trying something new at my events. I like to think of it as a kind of theme, based around the month’s abundance. First up? Drinks! Inspired by April’s flowers, herbs and syrups. In addition to spring foraging, I will be discussing how to make your own wild crafted sodas and shrubs (drinking vinegars) at home, using ingredients we collect along the way. The event will conclude with a tasting of a few of my very own wild crafted sodas and shrubs.
