Winter Happenings: Hittin’ the Coast For Edibles & Top 10 Gift Ideas for Every Forager

winter foraging events and top 10 gift ideas for foragers - boston, ma

The first snowflakes have fallen, the turkey leftovers are gone and the holiday season is in full swing! Before we busy ourselves with shopping, travel plans and year-end festivities, I wanted to share some of the latest foraging news, happenings and gift ideas to help ease the stress!

Winter offers numerous opportunities for wild edible and medicinal discoveries. The coast beckons with the lowest tides of the year, tempting us to bundle up and explore the incredible bounty of tasty seaweeds, edible invasive species and native shellfish. While out in the woods medicinal harvests like chaga and turkey tail mushrooms are at prime and the perfect antidotes for colds and flus.

I’ll be splitting my time amongst the tide pools of Gloucester, MA and Rye Beach, NH, offering public and private coastal foraging events from December to March.

Looking for the perfect present or stocking stuffer for your outdoor enthusiast? Check out this year’s Top 10 List, a carefully cultivated selection of my favorite foraging-centric gifts!
