April Public Foraging Events: Group Walks, Tastings and Workshops

april public foraging classes

This winter has been a real doozy! The constant snow storms and recent record-breaking blizzard has me going a bit stir-crazy. And while the warming days and cold night time temperatures are the perfect pattern for an epic maple sugar yield, I personally cannot wait for the green grounds of spring to burst forth!

Thankfully day light savings is just around the corner (this Saturday 3/7!!), beckoning us to get back out into nature.

Over the past 4 months I’ve been locked away in my office, working on a truly exciting project – my very first book! Although I cannot divulge the full details with you all just yet, I can tell you that it focuses on 60+ species of edible, medicinal and poisonous mushrooms commonly found throughout New England.

I am beyond grateful and humbled for this incredibly unique and fun opportunity to share my passion with a larger audience. As I continue along in the process I will be sure to update you, my faithful foraging friends! For now, I am planning to fight off the winter blues by looking ahead to April’s public foraging events.

Early spring features numerous delicious wild greens and herbs like garlic mustard, spring onion, alehoof, mugwort, sorrel, and box elder. Tasty tubers are also prime for picking, from day lilies and burdock to Jerusalem artichokes. And, the first edible flowers of the season, like dandelion, violets and magnolia brighten landscapes and dinner plates. This year I will again be offering monthly tastings, wild food picnics and workshops, along with identification walks.

Welcome back spring by joining me!

Don’t want to wait until April to get outside? You don’t have to! There are still a few spots left for the last of the winter coastal forages, this Sunday March 8 in Rye Beach, NH.

My spring calendar is filling up quickly with private bookings, lectures and excursions! If you are considering a private event, I recommend reaching out soon as dates are dwindling down.
