April Foraging Events: Groups Walks & Tastings

Spring has finally sprung – at least clock-wise – and I could not be more excited! Last week, I took a quick trip to Charleston, South Carolina to visit some friends and play a few rounds of golf (I totally crushed the competition!).

The south welcomed me with it’s magnolia trees and red buds in bloom, teased me with lush spring onion tufts along the outer edges of it’s golf courses and wowed me with it’s stunningly beautiful and historic Angel Oak – a live oak tree considered to be the oldest living oak east of the Mississippi, between 300 to 400 years old.

As thrilled as I am to start the spring foraging season, I can tell that many of you are just as pumped to get outside. My first foray of the season has already sold out!

April is the perfect time to get out and explore. Wild onions, garlic, roots, tubers, greens and flowers are ready to be harvested and enjoyed. Many invasive edible plants like garlic mustard and knotweed shoots will be ripe for picking.

My public spring outings will include more tastings, workshops and picnics. These events really allow me to delve deeper into the flavor profiles of the food we forage while on our walks and discuss how you can best utilize the ingredients through various techniques, all while sipping and sampling some of my own concoctions.

While my Saturday mornings will be busy, please note that I do leave most Saturday afternoons and Sundays open for private outings. Many of you have purchased gift certificates, so feel free to reach out and book a day to explore! This year, I have been lucky enough to have some press and word-of-mouth marketing from all of you amazing people, which has me booking out about a month in advance.
